Testing center in Riihimäki, Finland, provides companies with a low-threshold environment for testing network solutions and software against the requirements of the defence sector.

Millog Oy has launched the test centre operations in connection with the Defence Innovation Network Finland’s (DEFINE) Innovation Hub based in Riihimäki, Finland. It offers companies versatile testing environments to support the development of dual-use technologies and innovations. The test centre is especially aimed at start-ups, including participants in the NATO DIANA and DEFINE accelerator programmes, with the aim of serving businesses from all NATO member countries.

“The defence sector needs agile innovation and testing capabilities to quickly adopt new technologies. Our test center helps companies develop technologies that enhance the security of Finland and our NATO allies,” says Toni Piispa, Vice President, Authorities and Industry Business Unit.

As a strategic partner of the Finnish Defence Forces, Millog possesses deep insight into the needs and operational environment of the defence sector. This makes Millog a highly capable partner in the development of new systems.

At the test centre, companies can evaluate their network solutions and software with low threshold, either independently or with Millog’s experts. Millog helps to assess the suitability of these systems for demanding, safety-critical environments, as well as their compliance with defence sector’s standards.

Testing is conducted in a data centre environment, either on-site or remotely. The service is suitable for both demonstrating and testing ready-made systems and supporting the development of new innovations. Millog’s platform supports virtual Linux and Windows server and workstation environments, Android-based mobile solutions, containerised systems, and the integration of external internet-connected devices and sensors.

In addition, companies have access to Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) GPU server, enabling AI-based testing and supporting the development of AI applications. HAMK’s technology environment provides the capabilities to test AI-driven defence solutions, including new language model and agent-based applications. The environment was completed over the summer, backed by the expertise of RAIN.global Oy and its integration work.

Together, Millog’s test centre and HAMK’s GPU server form the DEFINE Testing Environment. Developed in close cooperation between public and commercial partners, the environment will be expanded in the near future to include, among other things, an additive manufacturing development platform.
