NATO Innovation Range runs first demonstration of new defence technologies to strengthen NATO’s operational resilience
NATO Innovation Range runs its first demonstration of new defence technologies in Riihimäki, Finland, on 8-10 December. The demonstration is part of NATO’s Task Force X- Eastern Flank Deterrence Line, which aims to enhance deterrence and defence on the Eastern Flank through scalable and NATO-compliant data-driven systems, new launchers and cloud-based coordination.
This event brings together NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) and NATO’s Defence Industry, Innovation and Armaments Division (D2IA) with key industry partners such as Nokia, Telia, NEST AI, and VTT, alongside innovative startups and technology companies. The event is co-organized by the Defence Innovation Network Finland (DEFINE) ecosystem and Crazy Town. Testing of multi-domain, dual-use capabilities is supported within the Defence Cloud environment operated by RAIN.global and Millog, supported by SpaceTime and ConfidentialMind.
The demonstration will feature 18 companies, offering products focused on AI, autonomy, unmanned systems across land, air, and water, resilient and secure networks, surveillance, navigation, ISR, and more. Participating companies will test and demonstrate the suitability of their solutions across four challenge areas: resilient connectivity, AI-enhanced decision support, 5G/6G and non-terrestrial network (NTN) integration, and mission assurance under extreme conditions. Both NATO and industry participants will explore practical applications.
This unprecedented event highlights enhanced interconnectedness with NATO’s systems, showcasing capabilities and partnerships in a way never done before.
A media day will be held on Tuesday, 9th December, offering journalists and industry representatives the opportunity to attend demonstrations, gather interviews, and experience the capabilities firsthand.
